Supporting unemployed young people into self-employment
Striding Out has teamed up with award winning Liverpool based social enterprise, ELECT, to develop the entrepreneurial skills of unemployed young people in North Liverpool.
Stepclever - The Sefton and Liverpool Enterprise Growth Initiative (SLEGI) has contracted us to release the latent entrepreneurship in young people aged 16-25 resident in the SLEGI area. The area presents the greatest economic regeneration challenge in the UK - one of its SOAs has the worst level of deprivation in the country.
We are providing inspirational events and one to one business and career coaching for 16-25 yr olds linked to local opportunities, sport, the arts and other interests of young people to assist progression to education, training and employment especially self-employment.
Over the next year we aim to:-
-
Increase young people's awareness of enterprise opportunities.
-
Instil in young people greater levels of self-confidence, presentation, and sales & operational skills
-
Reach local young people through targeted promotion and local accessibility.
-
Improve young people's economic well being.
-
Connecting with the local private sector and relevant education establishments.
-
Adding value to the existing provision aimed at 16-25 year old young people.
- Developing programmes to meet the needs of local individuals
- Help young people identify locally emerging opportunities in the private sector.
