Building A Coaching Franchise
Many coaches both sell and deliver their services. They deal with the business development, the programme development, and the managing of clients. Although this keeps costs down, in the longer term it limits how large you can grow. For every minute spent cold calling, cold emailing, and handing out flyers... a minute is potentially lost on strategic level work and doing actual coaching. We can clearly see that building a strong team will help to expand your business. But if finances are tight; how can a coach begin to build a strong team? The following are the top tips for building a team from scratch with little or no budget....
1. Create an internship programme
With around 2.47 million people in the UK that are unemployed, many talented individuals are simply not being given a chance. Offering an internship to a young person, a graduate, or someone with relevant skills could create a Win Win situation. The intern gets the work experience needed to strengthen their CV’s, and the coach gets the additional support to build their organisation. If a coach really wanted to add value to their interns, they could also offer their coaching services for free or at a discounted rate as part of the overall internship. If the coaching helps to get the intern into sustained employment, the intern could eventually become a lasting customer.
2. Hire a virtual PA
The administrative side of owning a coaching business/ franchise can take some time and sometimes can be an area that a coach would rather not have to deal with. Having an additional support mechanism that can help with booking appointments, sending invoices, and chasing up general administrative activities could be just the solution. Virtual PA’s are a relatively new and cost effective way of getting the support you need when you need it.
3. Effective Partnering
Being a part of a leading coaching network like Striding Out increases the potential for you to be the coach of choice. We market your services daily, and are constantly bidding for large contracts for coaching to be delivered by our network of coaches. However the story doesn’t end there. In order to fully benefit from being part of the network, meaningful relationships and partnering within your region must take place. The franchise model means you must do business development, but this is much easier when you work in partnership with fellow franchisees. Think about how you work with fellow coaches and what you can do to increase your portfolio of clients. Teamwork is very important to going further as a successful coach.... So build relationships... And build partnerships!
